Toughening mechanisms in boron nitride rubber hybrid composites

摘要
The addition of Boron Nitride (BN) and BN along with rubber particles to an epoxy polymer offers the potential to provide an increase in fracture toughness along with increased thermal conductivity. In order to assess the effect of adding BN and rubber on the fracture toughness of an epoxy resin, a systematic evaluation of BN/epoxy and BN/rubber/epoxy blends was performed. The fracture properties and toughening mechanisms of blends were determined as a function of volume fraction of filler, BN particles size, and type of rubber modifier.
