American Research Opportunities on the Cold War in Africa

Federal historical programmes and activities are available with primary and secondary sources covering the whole of the ColdWar period (which the Department of Defense considers to have been from 1945 until 1991). As with most research, the documentation is never in one place. This article provides an overview of some of the different institutions in the United States as a means to be aware of what is there and to start the process of accessing them. (There is also the equally important issue of private institutions and individuals that would also play a part in any project of research, but they is not covered by this article.) © 2007 Taylor & Francis.
