INVESTIGATION OF ATTITUDES THAT UNIVERSITY PERSONNEL HAVE TOWARDS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

摘要
This research was carried out to measure and evaluate the attitude of university personnel towards disabled persons. Within the context of this study, 234 academic and administrative personnel who work at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University were reached. Data form which measures socio-demographic information and Attitudes Scale Towards Disabled at Workplace were applied to the participants. Attitudes Scale Towards Disabled at Workplace developed by Mamatoglu et al. (2015); consists of 3 sub-dimensions which are 47 items and overall approach to employment of people with disabilities, perception related to work environment and work adaptation of PWDs, employee disability and perceived qualification of the work they do. As a conclusion of the research, it was found out that university personnel has a positive attitude for people with disabilities at the workplace and that this attitude doesn't change by gender. The attitudes of university personnel towards people with disabilities vary by some other factors. It was suggested within the study that legal regulations to be ensured for people with disabilities to be involved in working life, popularize supported employment method in all workplaces, increasing studies aimed at developing the attitudes of employers and employees towards the employment of people with disabilities.
