(Figure Presented) Inside out and back again: A novel nanogel composed of two biocompatible components, namely chitosan and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, is presented and shows novel surface switching of both composition and charge in response to pH changes in the medium (see picture). The pH-dependent surface switch of this nanogel is fully reversible and the particle integrity is maintained in the entire pH range owing to the gel nature of the system. © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
