摘要
French institutional texts are ruled by the Rapport de la Commission de terminologie (October 1998) that supports the exclusion of feminine nouns for female beings. The analysis of this Rapport shows, among other things, the questionable nature of its legal authority, the inaccuracy of its linguistic arguments, and the polemic aspect of its conclusions. The document on the whole is an illustration of stereotyped positions that assign the masculine to the public sphere and the feminine to the private sphere: a position relying on the archaic binary mentality studied in anthropology and sociology.
