摘要
The present work pertains to the field of nanotechnology through the synthesis of silver nanoparticles, having controlled size suitable for industrial and medical applications, using modified silica with s-triazine decorated with 2-aminomethylpyridine (Si-TAMPy) and 8-hydroxyqinoloine (Si-TQ). The nano-structural and elemental information of the formed silver nanoparticles obtained using several state-of-the-art techniques, such as ultraviolet (UV-vis), scanning transmission electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The obtained results explored that silver nanoparticles immobilized on the silica gel are stable in the presence of oxygen for several months. The biological activity of the obtained particles is also evaluated against Gram positive (Staphylococus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria. The results revealed that, AgNPs from Si-TAMPy and Si-TQ exhibited a potential antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli) and their activity varied with bacterial strain at the same concentration. To the best of our knowledge, AgNPs functionalized silica decorated with s-triazine having heterocyclic as terminal side chain could be useful in various medical and industrial applications and will be of inspiration to researchers working in this field.
