摘要
Acute life-threatening situations are detected and treated interdisciplinarily during the management of nontraumatic critically ill patients in the resuscitation room. The ABCDE system is used during the primary survey in order to examine and, if needed, immediately treat vital functions. A-problems may lead to airway obstructions and are associated with the risk of hypoxia. Different pathologies are the reason for this life-threatening condition and symptomatic therapy including airway management is the most appropriated treatment option. A structured airway management concept with respect to the local situation should be implemented and trained regular in every emergency department.
