Why we do R&D (a practitioner's tale)

The importance of research and development (R&D) in the United States is discussed. In the US, corporate R&D programs earn tax relief and is also one of the several intangibles that effect the value of innovation in business. The Federal government employs about $135 billion worth of work each year, which impact the entire US R&D culture. The country needs a national Level 5 or better goal that will make the National Innovation Initiative a successful reality for R&D.
