摘要
This arti cle draws on Judith Butler???s the o ries of vio lence and grief in order to out line a self-reflex ive nar ra tive of teach ing and speak ing about the Atlanta shoot ings of March 2021 as a queer and fem i nist stud ies scholar of Jap a nese stud ies in Hong Kong. The arti cle briefly explains how teach ing about this occur rence of anti Asian vio lence in East Asia might lead to impor tant dis cus sions of mul ti ple impe ri al isms within/around Asia, while pro vid ing back ground on the broader poten tial of Asian Amer i can stud ies for ped a gog i cal con texts within Asia. However, through a descrip tion of the author???s own com ing into being as a racialized, gen dered sub ject in the act of teach ing about the Atlanta shoot ings in Hong Kong, the focus is on a highly par tic u lar account of how grief and vul ner a bil ity might offer forms of polit i cal sol i dar ity that are not defined by roles as dis tinct sub jects belonging to recognizable groups and communities.
