摘要
The OSI layered structure that has dominated the study and the design of communication networks has outlived its purpose. It is now recognized that the successful operation of network systems requires improvements in design that recognize the interaction amongst protocols and issues that reside at different traditional layers. This is especially true in the case of wireless networks. In this brief paper an attempt is made to document this point.
