COOPERATION BETWEEN FAMILY AND SCHOOL AS PART OF A FUTURE TEACHER'S PROFESSION

The paper deals with the now "classical" but in our view also underestimated theme of educational reality, the cooperation between family and school. Therefore, in this paper we focus not only on the importance of this relationship but especially on undergraduate preparation of teachers within this field, because as evidenced by the empirical findings, many teachers are not sufficiently prepared to communication and cooperation with parents of students. Meetings with parents are often full of tensions, uncertainty, stress and similar emotions. Most beginning teachers state that they are facing biggest problems with the individual communication with parents of students and conducting class meeting with parents. The ability of teachers to communicate with parents and create a relationship with them is one of the most challenging in the teaching profession. For this reason, it is important to prepare prospective teachers for this area that is pointed out by the methodological guidelines of some faculties related to the application of the teaching practice and by the tutors who encourage students to focus on this area during their practice. In the undergraduate study, they should obtain not only a summary of knowledge of the family as an educational partner, ways of communication and cooperation possibilities but also develop competences that would help them to establish relationship with parents of students. The fact is, however, that due to the lack of interest, underestimation or even fear and other reasons, the communication and cooperation with parents of students remains neglectful for them. We consider it necessary to draw attention not only to the active cooperation and communication with the practicing and other teachers in the school practice, but also to the development of practical skills during the undergraduate preparation of prospective teachers.
