摘要
The conflicting trends of increasing production scale and growing demand for specialised products both set new requirements for the papermaking process, In an effort to address the conflict arising from this, the POM Concept has been developed to improve the agility of the papermaking process, The rationale of the concept is that a compact process with short lead times and small process volumes will adjust and reach equilibrium faster than a process with large volumes, This requires removal of air, which can be done by centrifugation in a POMp, a novel type of deaerating pump, The first installation according to this concept has been operating on MID Albbruck's PM 7 since May 1997 with good results. PM 7 is 3.1 m wide with a maximum operating speed of 1000 m/min. producing 90000 t/a of wood-containing base paper(1). The process is stable and simple to operate. Deaeration is good and product quality excellent. The system stays cleaner and the production efficiency has improved.
