Intelligent automation

The future of intelligent automation is the fully integrated manufacturing cell made up of 30 to 50 standard modules assembled on demand. The general architecture will be made operational based on a full parametric model reference (geometric, compliance, mass control) differences with a sensor reference of the system's actual operating condition. The residual becomes the basis for criteria based decision making for enhanced performance, condition based maintenance and fault tolerance. Operational softwre for configuration management, human intervention and lessons learned will require gigaflop level computational resources which are now becoming available.
