PYOCELE OF THE MIDDLE TURBINATE

A 34-year-old woman was admitted with complaints of unilateral nasal stuffiness, headache, nasal flow and epistaxis lasting for one year On physical and nasal endoscopic examination, a lesion obstructing the left nasal cavity was seen. There was a history of seasonal allergic rhinitis. On computerized tomography a large mass of soft tissue density with thin bone lamellae around was detected. Since a large amount of necrotic tissue and dense purulent material was aspirated on the biopsy, it emerged that the lesion should be a medial concha pyocele. The treatment of the patient was finalized by the endoscopic resection of lateral and inferior walls of the concha bullosa pyocele. No further problem was detected at the control visit after the operation.
