"1 1 1"-type iron arsenide compounds AFeAs (A = Li, Na) were synthesized. These compounds crystallize into Cu2Sb type tetragonal layered structure with space group P4/nmm and show superconductivity with the transition temperature similar to 18 K for LiFeAs and similar to 23 K for NaFeAs. The effect of pressure on LiFeAs sample was studied. It was found that the Tc decreased almost linearly with increasing pressure and the pressure derivative dT(o)/dP was about -1.38 K/GPa.
