摘要
Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) was irradiated with various heavy ions (Ne, Cr, Fe, Ni, Zn, Xe and U) in the energy range MeV to GeV. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and Raman spectroscopy were used to investigate the modifications on the surface, The formation of hillock-like tracks was observed, and its density increased with increasing ion fluence. The probability of track creation on the sample surface depended on the electronic energy loss and strongly influenced the surface damage. Both methods evident the graphite surface lattice dramatically disordered under high fluence heavy ion irradiation.
