摘要
New petrographic, textural and mineralogical data on mafic samples from the Olympic Dam Au-Cu-U deposit show the diversity of mafic facies. Four main types of mafic fades has been underestimated: 1-coherent facies, which represent a basaltic lava, 2-dolerite 3- mafic dykes with formerly glassy quenched margins, and coherent to brecciated texture, and 4- clasts of mafic rocks in the hematitic breccia and the volcaniclastic succession in the Olympic Dam breccia complex. These new observations confirm the deposit with the presence of basaltic lava prior to brecciation and that mafic fades were a component of the host succession, before, during, and after formation of the Olympic Dam deposit.
