In this study, the electrochemical behaviour of fenitrothion, an organophosphorous pesticide was investigated using cyclic voltammetry on a graphite electrode modified with silicone OV-101 (a polysiloxane stationary phase material used in gas chromatographic columns). Quantitative determination of fenitrothion using adsorptive stripping voltammetry on the modified graphite electrode was also developed and will be described. Using the developed method a detection limit for fenitrothion of I ng ml(-1) can be achieved using a 10-min accumulation time.
