Decreased NO synthesis was associated with reduced mean tumor growth in a murine metastasis model but when lymphocytes were simultaneously stimulated with IL-2 high NO levels even were antitumoral. NO therefore may act both tumor promoting and, only as long as lymphocytes are stimulated, inhibitory.
