Solvent extraction and spectrophotometric determination of Fe(II) with 1,3-diphenyl-4-carboethoxy pyrazole-5-one

摘要
A quick and selective method is developed for extractive spectrophotometric determination of Fe(II) using 1,3-diphenyl-4-carboethoxy pyrazole-5-one as the reagent. The wine-red coloured 1:3 (metal:ligand) complex in chloroform medium absorbs maximally at 525 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range 0.5 - 10 mug/ml of Fe(II). The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are found to be 1.156x10(3)l mol(-1) cm(-1) and 0.0483 mu gcm(-2) respectively. The effect of pH. equilibration time, reagent concentration and foreign ions have also been studied. The application of the method has been applied for the determination of Fe(II) in pharmaceutical samples.
