摘要
The object of the paper is the application of the theory of chromatography to scale up of the process. Presentation of theoretical concept has been supported by an experimental example i.e., separating of a real post-synthesis mixture of the cis- and trans-isomers of the furylanalogues of natural, plant terpenes using silica as the stationary phase. The theory applied is mainly based on the determining of the thermodynamics and the kinetics of the chromatography process in an analytical column. The model parameters obtained in the preliminary investigations are employed to simulate separation in larger column using a model of the process dynamics. The results of the simulations were verified by comparing to experimental concentration profiles. The simplified but effective approach for determining the process parameters has been proposed, which allowed fast designing of scaled-up separations.
