The Association of Traits Personality and Pro-Social Behavior Among Volunteers in Jakarta

摘要
The aim of the research was to investigate the association between traits personality and pro-social behavior among volunteers in Jakarta. Interesting facts about people in Jakarta as an urban city is the spirit to help others in disaster like floods in Jakarta itself or vulcano eruption around Indonesia. The research used NEO Five Factor Inventory to measure traits personality and pro-social behavior scale. Data analysis used total sample around 130 (n = 130) volunteers in Jakarta. Using Spearman correlation technique shown the results that pro social behavior significantly associated with four (4) from five (5) of the 'big five' dimension. Those dimensions of 'big five' are extraversion was significantly associated at r = 0,355 (p = 0,000); Openness to experience was significantly associated at r = 0,216 (p = 0,014); while with Agreeableness was significantly associated at r = 0,340 (p = 0,000); and with Conscientiousness was significantly associated at r = 0,400 (p = 0,000). The results indicate that there is a significant positive association between traits personality (big five personality) and pro-social behavior among volunteers in Jakarta.
