摘要
Developing countries including India are traditionally agriculture oriented and late starters in industry. They are engaged more in initial education and training of engineering personnel. However, with the recent trends especially of India Government towards globalization, liberalization and privatisation an awareness is being developed for upgrading the competency of in service engineers. Observations show that changes are taking place in Indian industry and economy. The associations of industries like Chambers of Commerce, confederation of Indian Industry etc. have been now-a-days actively debating and discussing GEE. The individual engineers are also becoming more and more, career conscious so also the institutes and universities, which so far did not have CEEcentres have taken on agenda to establish such centres. However, there are many impediments in planning and implementation of CEE in developing countries like India. The paper identifies the impediments and evolves solutions with the help of case examples from industries and universities. This college offers a platform to IACEE to setup a pilot project centre in India. More resources along with international experience in CEE from IACEE is required as an input so as to make CEE acceptable and a culture of life in India. The paper also presents a model management plan which can be utilized with minor modifications in any other developing country.
