摘要：
Compressed video is necessary for variety of requirements. The two basic compression standards are JPEG and MPEG. In broad terms, JPEG is associated with still digital pictures, whilst MPEG is dedicated to digital video sequences. This paper presents detailed comparative study of MPEG formats. The groups of MPEG standards considered for comparison are MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and MPEG-7.
