摘要
'Nieve' is a landrace peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] from the highlands of Mexico where it has been selected over many generations for adaptation to this environment. It has also been selected for the eating quality characteristics favoured in this region. 'Nieve' produces fruit with white skin and non-melting, white flesh. Seed of 'Nieve' were imported into Australia in 2009 and the resulting seedlings evaluated in south-east Queensland for tree and fruit characteristics over two years. The characteristics of these seedlings were compared with local breeding populations and with industry standards. The use of this germplasm in future breeding is discussed.
