摘要
This experimental work was designed to produce a solid-state cladding of AISI 304 stainless steel over C40 high carbon steel using friction surfacing. Various parametric combinations like axial force, rotational speed, and transverse speed were considered as the supreme aspects for bonding integrity. Successful analysis over coating geometry like coating width, the thickness was made on stainless steel coating over high carbon steel substrate. The deep influence of the axial force and the rotational speed on coating thickness and width was seen. The temperature profile was measured using an infrared thermometer and a peak temperature of 926 degrees C was recorded at the interface of the coating. Mechanical bond strength was examined through Vickers microhardness and bending rest. The maximum hardness value of 258 HV and bending strength of 131 MPa tons at 120 degrees bent angles were recorded from the obtained samples. Analysis of microstructure and interfacial features of the coating was done using FE-SEM. and XRD analysis showed the existence of a-Ferrite and the absence of carbide particles at the coating interface.
