The problem of viscoelastic pull-off of a sphere from a flat surface is considered. A single dimensionless parameter, which includes geometrical, elastic, viscoelastic, kinetic, and thermodynamic parameters of the sphere-plane system was shown to virtually determine the solution of this problem. Simple analytical approximations for the pull-off force and work were derived.
