摘要
Large deformation in metal cutting is analyzed by a PSPG (Pressure Stabilizing/Petrov-Galerkin) rigid-plastic FEM. It is important for plastic analysis to interpolate the velocity and pressure by the finite elements. For example, most of the plastic FEM use the selective reduced integration to relax the constraint of the incompressible condition. By the way, in the field of CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamic), the PSPG method is used to simulate fluid flow by FEM. PSPG method can treat the incompressible condition by using the same interpolation function for nodal velocity and pressure. This FEM scheme is successfully used for fluid analysis to simulate incompressible flows. The PSPG formulation is derived from GLS (Galerkin/Least-Square) method by using linear approximation such as triangle element. In this paper, PSPG formulation based on GLS is newly introduced to the rigid-plastic FEM. Quadrilateral and triangle elements are used to simulate plastic deformation in metal cutting. Chip formation process in metal cutting is analyzed, and simulation results of chip curl are shown.
