摘要
Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC. (Asteraceae) is widely used as a traditional medicine by Miao and Li Nations to promote skin trauma. This study was initiated to investigate the potential healing effects of total flavonoids extract from Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC. (TFE) on UVB-induced sunburn mice, and reveal its action mechanism. Five groups (n=20) were randomLy divided and the model groups treated with 85% ethanol (0.25 mL), the positive control group treated with Compound Mentholatum Ointment (CMO) (0.1 g), and the TFE group treated with TFE (0.25 mL, of 85% ethanol containing 25 mg TFE) for 11 consecutive days. The skin edema and erythema, scabs dropped time were observed every day for 11 days after UVB irradiation procedure. The samples were collected from different treated mice by sacrificing the animals on day 1, 2, 4, 7, and 11 after treatment. Serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the skin tissue levels of glutathione (GSH ), malondialdehyde (MDA), 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdH), were evaluated, and the tissue expressions of nuclear factor-kappa gene binding (NF-xB), interleukin-6 (IL-6) were determined along with skin histopathology. And the epidermal thicknesses were measured. Results showed that significant accelerated sunburn wound healing, the scabs dropped time shorten after treatment with TFE in the sunburn mice compared to model group and vehicle control group (p<0.05). Furthermore, the study confirmed that TFE were postulated its action mechanisms of influencing the levels of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidants and anti-inflammatory at different healing phases.
