摘要
This work continues studies assessing the possibility of using remote-sensing data of the chlorophyll-a concentration for estimating the biological productivity of the water area of the Sakhalin-Kuril region. In situ data of chlorophyll-a concentration are obtained during expeditions onboard R/V Professor Kaganovskii in the Sea of Okhotsk in 2004-2011. Vertical profiles of pigment concentration are described for different regions of the Sea of Okhotsk; the thickness of photosynthetic layer and the depth of the maximum chlorophyll-a concentration are determined. Seasonal and interannual variations of the chlorophyll-a concentration along the water column are analyzed and the coefficients of the ratio between the average pigment concentration on the surface and in the upper 100-m water layer are determined. This makes it possible to use satellite information to reconstruct a typical vertical pattern of pigment distribution for different seasons and areas of the Sea of Okhotsk and estimate its total content in the layer of pronounced photosynthesis.
