摘要
Numerous publications have considered the influence of dislocations on the propagation of cracks by stress corrosion. On the other hand, several mechanisms include the action of vacancies in the stress corrosion cracking process, but no explicit analysis is made of their role. A review of these mechanisms is made in the present paper and the role played by the vacancies is analyzed. The source as well as the movement of the vacancies is considered, and their significance in the various mechanisms is evaluated.
