摘要
As an alternative to conventional cement-based materials, natural fibers have been demonstrated to effectively enhance mechanical property. A reduced in size particle termed microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) has been explored as mortar reinforcement. In this manner, this study focused on its effects on the cement pastes early hydration modulus of rupture (MOR). Loadings of MCC ranging from 0.1 to 1.0% in relation to cement mass was considered. At 7 hydration days the MOR, as well as the degree of hydration, dry bulk density, water absorption and pore volume indexes were determined. It was found that 0.2% of MCC has a greater influence on the MOR at 7 hydration days, performing 8,06% better than reference (0.0% MCC). This composite also presented the lowest indexes for water absorption and pore volume, while presenting the highest degree of hydration and dry bulk density. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) returned the significance of %MCC in the early hydration MOR and physical parameters.
