Stage-discharge and resistance relationships for laboratory alluvial channels with overbank flow

Experimental results are presented concerning stage-discharge and resistance relationships in compound channels comprising of one rectangular main channel and one or two symmetrically disposed smooth floodplains. The effect of abrupt changes in resistance at the bankfull stage, as well as the changing global resistance values due to bed forms are linked to the stage-discharge relationships. The differences between global, zonal and local resistance coefficients are described.
