摘要
The aim of this study Was to examine the quality of bast fibres of flax and hemp as raw material for thermal insulations. Some of the quality properties were used mainly to characterise the overall ability of the production methods to produce short fibre material for insulations and some properties to examine the hygienic quality of the fibre. Thirdly, methods were used to indicate changes in the quality of the fibre during the processing chain before it is processed into insulations. Bast fibres are suitable for use as insulation materials due to their thermal properties and some ecological features. However, controlled procedures e.g. during manufacturing, building and cleaning as well as increase of the amount of additives are required in order to avoid the risk of negative effects on the quality of the insulation and possibly on indoor air. To overcome the risk factors caused by contaminants, moisture and free water, quality control must be adopted for the whole production chain of bast fibres.
