A process model for manufacturing strategy

Contemporary research in the discipline of manufacturing strategy is focused upon manufacturing strategy content with little work being conducted relevant to manufacturing strategy process. Similarly the work is concentrated upon larger organisations to the exclusion of the Small to Medium sized Enterprise (SME). Thus this paper presents the results of research to develop a framework to aid the process of manufacturing strategy formulation aimed specifically at the SME sector. The framework is operationalised through the application of a novel combination of AMBITE, GRAI and IDEF methodologies. The validity of the framework is subsequently illustrated by the description of the findings of a pilot study application.
