Coagulation disorders in dogs with neoplasia: Case reports and literature review

In dogs with neoplasia coagulation disorders mainly occur at an advanced disease state. Clinically bleeding disorders are much move common than thrombotic events. In inherited and acquired coagulopathies paraneoplastic coagulation disorders should be a differential diagnosis. Treatment plan and prognosis of a tumor patient is influenced by the occurence of abnormal hemostatic test results. The importance of subclinical coagulation disorders in dogs has not been studied in detail. Five cases with paraneoplastic induced coagulation disorders (2 mammary carcinomas, acute lymphoblastic leucemia, splenic hemangiosarcoma, and malignant lymphoma) are described and discussed with the literature.
