High-temperature radiative conductivity of commercial iron-containing glasses

摘要
Results of measurements of high-temperature IR-spectra of six iron-containing float glass melts are presented. The spectra of these melts were divided into four characteristic zones having specific temperature dependencies of absorption coefficients. It is demonstrated in what extent the differences in absorption coefficients of the studied melts within each of these zones lead to the differences in radiative conductivity of melts. It is concluded that for obtaining dependable radiative conductivity data for computer simulation of melting processes one has to measure optical spectra of any new melt of the same type in the wavelength range at least up to 2.7 mu m. However absorption coefficients of a molten glass at high temperatures and radiative conductivity for selected type of glasses can be roughly estimated by the use of spectra measured at room temperature.
