摘要
Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) is a short-haul serial communication interface, which is applied widely in digital communication and control system. Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is the attribute of semi-custom Integrate Circuit. Combining EDA with FPGA will construct the digital system quickly and expediently. This article introduced a method to design UART based on FPGA and it realized the design of UART models. At first, this article introduced the basic features of UART, and then it designed the top model based on the system constructers. Secondly, the receiver and transfer were designed by Finite State Machine (FSM). All functions were given by VHDL. At last, the simulation testing proved the validity and reliability in the whole design.
