Design of Dual-band Single Circular Polarized Dielectric Resonator Antenna Array for 5G Millimeter Wave Communications

摘要
A dual-band, single-circular polarized dielectric resonator antenna is presented for 5G mm-wave communications. The rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) was fed with a modified cross gap, which enables the DRA to realize circularly polarized (CP) radiation and linearly polarized (LP) radiation at 26 GHz and 39 GHz, respectively. The measured impedance bandwidths of the DRA at lower and upper bands are 27.52% (23.5-31 GHz) and 11.31% (35.09-39.3 GHz), respectively. The measured axial ratio (AR) bandwidth (AR<3 dB) is 12.99% (25.2-28.7 GHz). Then, a four-element parasitic array structure is used to enhance the gain of the proposed DRA so that the DRA can better meet the requirements of mm-wave communication.
