Sports-related trauma and overuse are common causes of musculoskeletal injury in the pediatric and adolescent populations. This article discusses the anatomic and biologic factors that may result in injuries that are unique to skeletally immature patients. Specific examples of the most commonly encountered disorders are discussed, together with guidelines for their treatment.
