Discrete symmetries and neutrino masses

摘要：
We constructed a model of neutrino masses using Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism with U(1)xZ(3)xZ(2) flavor symmetry. The model predicts that (2/3)m(2)/m(3)similar toroot2sintheta(13) at lepton number violating scale M-1. It is shown that the small values for m(2)/m(3) and sintheta(13) are consequences of breaking discrete symmetries.
