摘要
In this paper, we chart the changing landscape of information management (retrieval, update, as well as quality of service) and comment on the technology that has facilitated these changes. Specifically, we focus on the push vs. pull paradigm in this paper and indicate how reactive capability has played a key role so far and how it will further play a prominent role in supporting user-centric information management. Although the discussions in this paper use databases as examples, the generalization to other types of information sources should be clear and fairly straightforward. This paper also discusses the need to transition new information technologies to Air Force and Navy applications. A transition plan is provided and issues relating to incorporating this technology for military applications are highlighted.
