An electronic social work knowledge base: A strategy for global information sharing

The establishment of an internationally linked electronic knowledge base by social work educators and practitioners could advance the global dissemination of social work information. This Internet-accessible repository would allow for the creation of a peer-reviewed electronic journal, immediate retrieval of recent papers, sharing of electronic courseware, and archiving of research databases, and would provide a forum for addressing emerging social problems. The creation of a social work international informational resources linkage (SWIIRL) for the advancement of social work education and practice is proposed and described.
