摘要
Compactness, improved reliability, and higher power are enhancing the status of diode laser systems in a variety of applications. The emergence of optical fibers paves the path of delivering the energy emitting from the high power diode laser However the poor beam character limits its widely applications needing the high coupling efficiency in industry. The coupling technology is a crucial step in the successful and efficient application of high power laser diodes. After analysis the present coupling technology, a new method for coupling the high power laser diodes into the fiber is described. The light exiting from the laser diode can be efficiently coupled into the optical fibers with one micro-sphere tapered end. The manufacture procedures of micro-sphere tapered optical fibers are also discussed. Experiment result shows that the efficiency is up to 60% in the laboratory.
