Product configuration system over Internet based on the rule base and J2EE framework

Although the bases of configurators are different (for example: configurator based on function, configurator based on structure or configurator based on parameter), they essentially follow the same configuration process in which the customer's requirements match the product's facts. Furthermore, if the rules are introduced, configuration is a process in which the customer's requirements match the defined rules. So, in this paper, configuration rule base is established and introduced into the configuration system, and J2EE f'ramexvork-client/sever/database is adopted in the structure of configuration system. Taking electric cooker as an example, the Web-based customization system is developed, and its application shows that configuration system based on rule base could be maintained and managed easily and run with more efficiency.
