摘要
Catalytic hydration of 2-methyl-2-propene to tert-butanol (TBA) and alkylation with methanol to methyl-tert-butyl et:her (MTBE) with dodecatungstosilicic acid H4SiW12O40 as catalyst were investigated in a constant flow reactor at 40-80 degrees C. The catalyst is active in both reactions and exhibits high selectivities. The mechanisms of both reactions involving protonated intermediates were proposed. (C) Academie des Sciences/Elsevier, Paris.
