摘要
The reduction of carbon emissions resulting from the maritime sector has become one of the main targets of the European Union. This paper's goals are twofold: first, we calculate the amount of CO(2)eq emissions that can be reduced due to the use of the Fischer-Tropsch Diesel; second, we assess the potential amount of the carbon savings that could, consequently, be commercialized in the market. The well-to-tank methodology is used to assess the carbon footprint of the process, namely, through Bio FT-Diesel production from biomass residues of wheat, barley, and maize crops. The study relies on evidence from 9 countries (France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria) that could potentially produce 4.90 million tons of biofuels, accounting for 260 million euros, a value that can be perceived as a decarbonization mechanism incentive in the carbon market.
