摘要
I work on the relationship between moral autonomy (MA) and personal autonomy (PA), here focusing on Nino's Ethics and Human Rights. First I reconstruct his understanding and then I criticize it. For him the second is a subclass of the first: MA refers to all moral duties, PA only to duties to oneself In turn, he understands that MA is an unavoidable assumption of moral discourse while PA is a principle of social morality. But then either MA is a principle of social morality or PA is an assumption of moral discourse. A third option is to conceive MA as isolating only one set of valid principles, PA among them. I show the unfeasibility of these proposals. Finally, I present the proper way to conceive the relationship in question.
