摘要
This paper describes a patent pending technology that reliably measures Contact Tip to Work Distance (CTWD) during short circuit phase in constant voltage (CV) shea. are length spray and patented surface tension transfer (STT) welding. During short circuit phase of liquid metal transfer, the are is collapsed and thus does not contribute to the voltage drop. The wire extension resistance proportional to its length can be simply derived by Ohm's Law, when the wire is regularly shorted to the weld pool. Applications such as adaptive fill and seam-tracking are evaluated.
