摘要
Energy management in the hotel industry is justified and necessary both from an economic and environmental aspect. The standard conditions of hotel operations allow for the application of various types of energy, which generate hotel costs. These costs are important for the economy of the hotel and through proper management they should be minimized and reduced to acceptable and justified levels. From the viewpoint of environmental protection, energy consumption causes pollution. This can also be avoided through energy management. This paper deals with a case analysis i.e. the analysis of water and energy costs at the "Liburnia Riviera Hoteli" in Opatija (all of the hotels and restaurants in the enterprise) over a period of 20 years. Results obtained by longterm analysis point to the significance of energy from an economic and environmental aspect. They also underline the need for a concrete program for energy management in the hotel industry of Croatia. The paper also features the methodology of evaluating energy consumption in hotels.
